The 90’s

  • In 1991, CEC (Centre Europe Conditionnement) purchased the company EMP (Electro Mécanique Picot), which later became EMI (Electro Mécanique Industrie). EMI specializes in developing and manufacturing mechatronic systems for the automotive, motorcycle, and industrial sectors.
  • In 1997, a merger with the company ADIS resulted in the formation of EMP/ADIS, a company specializing in molding and overmolding.
  • In 1999, the acquisition of a division of the company TRANSVAL led to the incorporation of the production of speedometers for mopeds into its facilities. An additional 800 square meters of space was added for the creation of a raw material storage facility.

The 00’s

  • In 2000, the RGM Group acquired all the TRANSVAL companies, leading to the integration of four injection molding machines and an assembly line for audible warning devices at the EMP site.
  • In 2001, the various activities on the Bayard site were merged to form EMI (Electro Mécanique Industries). Additionally, the ignition business of the company SAGEM was acquired, and it now manufactures the complete range of DUCELLIER Marchal and Paris Rhône ignition products.
  • In 2002, the electronic sector was established, and the development of dashboard units for scooters and cars without a driver’s license began.
  • In 2003, the internationally renowned hub division of the company LELEU was acquired and integrated into EMI.
  • In 2004, the installation of an electronic component placement line and a lead-free wave soldering machine took place.
  • In 2007-2008, the establishment of a pencil coil manufacturing line and the installation of a second component placement machine were carried out.

The 2010’s

  • In 2010, the integration of a Ford coil assembly line took place.
  • In 2014, an investment was made in the company SEV (Electric Bicycles), and the development of the GM ignition coil and a new dashboard for Ligier and Microcar began.
  • In 2013, the installation of two new assembly lines (Pivot and ignition ramp) was implemented.
  • In 2015, the acquisition of SEV Electric Vehicles, a French company that designs, develops, assembles, and markets electric two-wheelers under the brand name eTricks, took place. The products of HomeRider in the electronics sector were industrialized. The establishment of a new SMT line, the acquisition of EFFIANCE and its subsidiary ILLIANCE, specialized in wiring, injection, and the production of copper windings for induction plates, also occurred.
  • In 2016, the integration of EFFIANCE and SEV Electric Vehicles into EMI was completed.

In 2023, the activity was taken over by the GCK Group

In June 2023, the GCK Group continued its growth by acquiring the activities of EMI, a loyal and long-standing partner of the group, particularly its subsidiary GCK Battery for which it designs electronic boards, casings, and harnesses for the batteries produced.

EMI has now become GCK EMI and is integrated into the Technology & Industry division of GCK. With a workforce of 270 employees, the group is committed to revitalizing the historic activities of GCK EMI and developing new products identified as strategic, both for external customers and other companies within the group.

Eric Boudot

President of the GCK Group

“EMI was a significant and long-standing supplier to our subsidiary, GCK Battery. When the opportunity arose in 2023 to acquire all its activities, we saw it as a chance to integrate a number of missing skills into the GCK Group. This addition to our portfolio of companies allows us to strengthen our overall offering to accelerate the decarbonization of transportation.”
